Rapunzel and the Bad Hair Day - Nibblefest
Did you ever wonder if Rapunzel got heartily sick of all that climbing? Up and down, up and down, the constant tugging and pulling...Imagine all the work required to maintain that 'do...just keeping the split ends trimmed was a full-time job! To say nothing of how long it took to blow-dry...I imagine that one day, she just snapped, pulled out the scissors and snip, snip! An emancipated woman!!! Too bad about the prince, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do...
This is my entry in the Nibblefest Art Contest, a themed art contest beginning on the 20th of each month. Please search for NFAC to see more great entries, starting at just 99¢! This month's theme is "Fairy Tales."
This is an original watercolor/mixed media painting, created with Winsor & Newton watercolors, Dr. Martin's Transparent watercolors, and Colerase colored pencils on 140 lb. Arches Aquarelle Coldpress watercolor paper. The image size is 13.75 x 8.5 inches, on a sheet of paper measuring 17 x 12 inches, which leaves a generous margin for matting and framing. (The painting is offered without a mat or frame.) I hope you enjoy looking at my work!

Who knows
Things have been pretty slow lately. Even my auctions are slow!
It's funny: when it's hot, people say the market will pick up in winter when people are indoors. When it's cold, they say the sales are slow when it's cold or the holydays.... then after the holydays and cold, all that is gone, and things are still slow, they blame the nice weather, scholl time, or whatever! LOL
Me? I think it's just luck.
I have been painting a few larger canvas and started 2 oil portraits. Somehow it feels like it takes forever to dry!
That's one thing I love about acrylics. They just dry so fast you can keep going instantly.
On the other side, sometimes you just need a few more minutes to move around with that paintbrush and by the time you want to mix a bit, the acrylic dried on you. As a painter, you have to be friends with mediums!
I slow my acrylics, and speed up my oils. :o)
I sent a few requests to other artists to fill out a short questionaire for my other art blog, but I guess they are feeling shy. Hardly anyone has sent the thing back for me to post.... Who knows why.
I still like to go around and drool on their auctions or websites.
